On Colchester Borough Council the Labour Cabinet members and the Group Leader are working very hard to adapt services so that the ever diminishing Council resources can be applied where they will offer the most help to the vulnerable. Some services are deeply affected by staff absences and the need for those staff to self isolate.

Action is being taken on many fronts such as caring for those identified as at risk by the NHS and Social Care; those at risk of domestic violence; those with no recourse to public funds; street homeless who have to isolate. Advice and financial support is being coordinated for those unable to pay utility and housing costs. Local efforts are complicated by the continuing lack of any clear advice from the centre.
